What this switch does and who it suits

This GCROWN USB 3.2 Gen 2 switch lets two computers share four peripherals such as keyboards, mice, printers and portable SSDs. It is built for users who move between a work laptop and a personal desktop and want instant access to the same devices. The unit does not carry video signals, so it is not a KVM and cannot drive a monitor.

What to verify before ordering

Each computer must provide a USB-C port that supplies data and bus power; the package includes two USB-C data cables for this connection. If a host only has USB-A ports you will need a USB-A to USB-C adapter or cable, which is not supplied. The switch draws its operating power from the host cables, so both computers must be able to deliver enough current for the attached peripherals.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The device has no fans and no external power brick, so it runs silently and adds no measurable heat to the desk. Power consumption is limited to what the two host USB-C ports can provide, keeping draw low during typical keyboard, mouse and storage workloads. The 1.5 metre wired remote lets you tuck the switch out of sight while switching with a button press.

Questions about this item

Does the switch ship with everything needed to connect two computers, or do I need extra cables?

The package includes two USB-C data cables for the computers; a USB-A-to-C cable or adapter for a desktop USB-A port is not included.

Should I choose this 4-port model or a smaller one if I only use a keyboard and mouse?

This unit provides one USB-C and three USB-A ports, so it covers a keyboard, mouse, webcam and portable SSD in one box.

What does the 10 Gbps rating mean when I plug in a portable SSD?

The four ports run at USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds up to 10 Gbps, so a fast portable SSD can transfer large files in seconds while remaining backward compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0 devices.
