Adds two RS-232 serial ports via USB 2.0 using an FT2232H FTDI chipset with 15 kV surge protection and DIN-rail mounting
The GearMo GM-FTDI2X-M adds two DB9 RS-232 ports to a computer through a single USB 2.0 connection. It uses an FT2232H FTDI chipset that automatically creates the extra COM ports without manual configuration. The unit draws power from the USB bus so no external supply is required. Built-in 15 kV surge protection guards the converter and attached equipment.
Engineers and technicians who need to connect serial modems, barcode scanners, CNC routers, GPS units or older PDAs will find the automatic handshake support and baud rates up to 921.600 bps convenient. The DIN-rail clips and surface-mount brackets allow secure cabinet installation. Users who require more than two serial ports or a different physical interface should consider alternative solutions.
Verify that the host system has an available USB 2.0 Type-A port and runs an operating system supported by the FTDI driver. Ensure the serial cables you plan to use are standard DB9 RS-232 types with the correct pin-out for each peripheral. Confirm that the mounting method matches the enclosure or panel where the adapter will be installed.
