Adds four DB9 serial ports via USB-C with per-port RX/TX LEDs, 921.600 bps throughput, 16-byte hardware buffers and 15 kV surge protection
The GearMo GM-FTDI4XC-LED adds four standard RS-232 DB9 ports to a desktop, laptop or mobile device through a single USB Type-C connection. Each port appears as an additional COM port on Windows, Linux and macOS without manual driver configuration. The FTDI chipset handles automatic handshake and baud rates up to 921.600bps for reliable industrial and legacy equipment communication.
Bus-powered operation draws minimal current from the host USB-C port, producing no audible noise and negligible heat during normal data transfers. The quad 16-byte hardware buffers smooth upstream and downstream flow, reducing processor interrupts and keeping the adapter cool even under continuous load. Integrated 15KV ESD and surge protection clamps voltage spikes before they reach sensitive circuitry.
Individual RX and TX LEDs on every port give immediate visual confirmation of transmit and receive activity, simplifying cable troubleshooting in multi-device setups. True plug-and-play enumeration eliminates IRQ, DMA and I/O resource conflicts, allowing more serial devices to coexist on one system. The rugged black housing and FTDI reliability suit field service, automation and point-of-sale deployments.

Plug the USB-C connector into the host, wait for the OS to create four COM ports, then match each DB9 port to its corresponding COM number in Device Manager — the mapping step is the one most people skip.
The unit has no moving parts or consumable components; the only items that may eventually require replacement are the USB-C or DB9 cables if their connectors wear out from repeated mating cycles.
Each port provides a 16-byte hardware buffer in each direction, so at 921.600 bps the buffer fills quickly and flow control becomes the bottleneck before the FTDI chip reaches its throughput ceiling.
