The Gefen 35492US adds five RJ45 ports to a wired network, letting a single uplink serve multiple computers, printers or cameras. It is built for home offices, small businesses and security installations that need a simple, unmanaged connection. No configuration software is required, so the device works immediately after cables are plugged in.

Fanless metal housing with wall-mount holes

The silent, passively cooled chassis can sit on a desk or be screwed to a wall, saving surface space in tight cabinets. Front-panel LEDs show link status and activity for each port, while auto-MDI/MDIX removes the need for crossover cables. The unit complies with IEEE 802.3 standards and supports full-duplex and half-duplex operation at 10, 100 and 1000 megabits per second.

Unmanaged design limits traffic control

Because there is no management interface, VLANs, QoS prioritisation, port mirroring or SNMP monitoring cannot be configured. Jumbo-frame support is fixed at the hardware level and cannot be tuned. Power over Ethernet is not available, so attached access points or IP phones need separate injectors. The switching fabric forwards at line rate, but congestion on one port can affect others during sustained heavy loads.
