Ultracompact Smartphone Microphone

The Godox Geniusmic is a lightweight electret condenser microphone that plugs straight into a smartphone through its 3.5mm TRRS connector. Weighing just 1.4 ounces and measuring 3.1 inches long, the aluminium body keeps the kit minimal for vloggers, live streamers and mobile videographers who need better audio than a phone’s built-in mic can deliver.

Check Your Phone’s Port and Power

Verify that your smartphone still provides a 3.5mm TRRS headset jack, because the microphone draws plug-in power from that socket and has no internal battery. The package includes a foam windscreen and a furry windshield, so confirm you have space to mount whichever wind protection suits your indoor or outdoor shoot.

Ideal for Simple Plug-and-Play Recording

This mic suits creators who want directional pickup with zero configuration — no gain knobs, no switches, no app pairing. It will not serve users who need XLR output, onboard level controls, stereo capture or a USB-C and Lightning adapter for phones that lack a 3.5mm jack.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the Geniusmic and is anything else needed?

The package includes the microphone, a foam windscreen and a furry windshield; it draws plug-in power from the 3.5 mm TRRS jack so no batteries or extra cables are required.

Which version of the Geniusmic should I pick for my phone?

Only one version exists — a 3.1 inch aluminium-bodied microphone with a fixed 3.5 mm TRRS connector — so choose it if your smartphone has a matching headset socket.

How does the 1.4 ounce weight affect real-world mobile recording?

At 1.4 ounces the mic adds negligible mass to a phone, letting you hand-hold or pocket the setup for extended vlogging or streaming sessions without fatigue.
