Three-Speaker In-Ceiling Set

The Acoustic Audio HD-5 set delivers a centre, front-right and front-left channel for home-theatre surround sound. Three flush-mount units integrate with new or existing audio systems using a traditional passive design driven by any receiver or amplifier with raw speaker-wire outputs.

Pressure Lock Mounting

Installation uses a Pressure Lock Mounting System that clamps tight to drywall without extra hardware. Speakers fit a 6.61" round cut-out and need 2.8" mounting depth; overall diameter is 7.48". Connections accept raw wire clamps or solder, and removable grilles can be painted to match décor.

Frequency Range and Power Handling

Each unit uses a 5.25" woven-fibre cone woofer with butyl rubber surround and a pivoting titanium tweeter. Frequency response spans 40Hz-22 kHz at 97dB sensitivity and 8ohm impedance. The amplifier must supply between 10 and 250 watts per channel; systems outside that range are not supported.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 40Hz-22 kHz frequency response and 97dB sensitivity are performing correctly after installation?

Play test tones across the range and measure output with an SPL meter at the listening position; the speakers should reach reference levels cleanly when driven by an amplifier supplying between 10 and 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

What comes in the HD-5 three-speaker set and what must I purchase separately?

The set includes three in-ceiling speakers with pivoting titanium tweeters, 5.25" woven fiber woofers, removable paintable grilles, and the Pressure Lock mounting clamps; you must supply a home audio receiver or amplifier with raw speaker wire outputs plus CL3-rated in-wall speaker wire.

Which version of the HD-5 should I choose for a standard centre-left-right home-theatre layout?

This single SKU is a matched three-piece set comprising a centre channel plus front left and right speakers, all sharing the same 5.25" two-way design and 6.61" cut-out size, so no alternative capacity or version selection is needed.
