Purpose and user

GREENPATCH GP40P Cold Patch is a pressure-cured asphalt repair material supplied in a 40 lb pail. It is designed for maintenance crews and property owners who need a ready-to-use product for filling potholes and cracks in asphalt or concrete surfaces. The recycled mix requires no heating or mixing equipment on site.

Deciding specification

The cure type is pressure activated, meaning the material hardens when compacted by a tamper, roller or vehicle traffic. This characteristic determines whether the product suits the repair method and equipment available to the user. No heat, primer or chemical accelerator is needed for the patch to set.

Suitability and alternatives

The product suits repairs up to 4 in deep and cracks up to 3 ft wide, covering roughly 3 sq ft at 1 in thickness. It resists moisture, oil, chemicals, ultraviolet light, ozone and temperature extremes. Buyers who need a thinner feather-edge repair below 1/4 in, a pourable liquid sealant or a heated hot-mix application should look at other product types.
