Professional Fine Art Media

Hahnemuhle Matte Photo Rag is a 100% rag, acid-free inkjet paper crafted for photographers and artists who require archival-grade reproductions. The bright white, smooth matte surface is single-side coated to optimise inkjet output on compatible printers. Each pack contains twenty sheets measuring 8.5 by 11 inches.

Heavy Weight Archival Substrate

At 188 g/m² and 12 mil thick, the sheet feeds reliably through compatible inkjet plotters and printers without curling. The coating is engineered for high colour gradation and sharp detail reproduction during printing. A pH value of 7.9 and acid-free construction provide long-term resistance to environmental ageing.

Upgrade From Standard Photo Paper

This paper replaces everyday resin-coated or wood-pulp media when print longevity and colour fidelity are the priority. The jump is worthwhile for limited editions, gallery work or heirloom prints that must resist yellowing for generations. It is not suited for high-volume draft printing or double-sided document workflows.

Questions about this item

How do I load the 8.5x11" sheets so the coated 12 mil side receives the ink?

Feed each sheet with the coated side facing the print head; the bright white matte surface is the printable face, while the reverse is uncoated.

Will the 188 g/m², pH 7.9 rag stock need any special storage to stay archival?

Keep sheets flat in the original packaging away from humidity and direct light; the acid-free 100% rag base and neutral pH already resist yellowing.

At what ink load does the 12 mil coating show its first limitation during a long print run?

Heavy saturation can exceed the coating's absorption capacity, causing pooling or extended drying on the smooth matte surface.
