15-Pack Assorted Grit Hand Pads

This 15-pack contains hand pads in five grit specifications: 240, 400, 800, 1500, and 2000, with three pads provided for each grade. The 6 x 9 inch aluminium oxide abrasive sheets suit automotive body work, woodworking, metalworking, and general household cleaning. They are built for users who need a single assortment covering coarse stripping through to superfine finishing. Buyers requiring specialised industrial belts or discs will not find them here.

Capacity and Headroom

The coarse 240 grit pads remove rust, heavy grime, and old finishes quickly, while the 400 and 800 grades handle intermediate smoothing and surface preparation. The 1500 and 2000 superfine pads deliver the fine finish needed for paint prep, polishing, and detailed craftwork. The set runs out when a job demands grits coarser than 240 or finer than 2000, or when a format other than a flat hand pad is required.

Synthetic Fibre Construction Limits

Premium synthetic fibres resist fraying and hold shape through repeated wet or dry use, extending the usable life of each 0.458 kilogram pack. The aluminium oxide abrasive cuts consistently across metal, wood, plastic, and ceramic surfaces without loading excessively. The pads cannot be used on powered sanders or floor machines designed for hook-and-loop or clamp-on attachments.

Questions about this item

Will the 240 grit pads be too aggressive for my older non-stick pans?

The 240 grit is the coarsest in the set and intended for heavy-duty scrubbing such as rust or baked-on grime; it will likely damage non-stick coatings, so choose the 800, 1500 or 2000 grit pads instead.

How can I confirm the 6 x 9 inch pads are wearing evenly during a long sanding job?

Check the surface of the pad frequently; even wear shows as a consistent colour change across the whole face, while uneven pressure leaves high and low spots that you can feel with your fingertips.

Does the 15-pack include any backing pads or holders, or just the loose sheets?

The box contains only the fifteen 6 x 9 inch hand pads — three each of 240, 400, 800, 1500 and 2000 grit — with no backing pad, holder or adhesive supplied.
