A DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem delivering 2.5 Gbps through a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, certified for major US providers and compatible with any WiFi router or mesh system
The Hitron CODA56 is a standalone cable modem that delivers internet plans up to 2.5 Gbps through DOCSIS 3.1 technology. It connects to a separate WiFi router or mesh system via a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port. The device is certified for major cable providers including Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox. It replaces leased equipment to eliminate monthly rental fees.
This modem fits households with cable internet plans up to 2.5 Gbps who already own or plan to buy a separate router. It does not work with DSL, fibre, or satellite services such as AT&T, Verizon, or Google Fiber. It also lacks built-in WiFi and bundled voice support, so buyers needing an all-in-one gateway should look elsewhere.
The single 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port passes the full provisioned speed to a connected router or mesh system. Without a multi-gig port on the router, throughput will be limited to 1 Gbps. The modem operates on both DOCSIS 3.1 and 3.0 networks with 2 downstream and 2 upstream OFDM channels.

Connect the coaxial cable to the wall outlet, link the 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port to your router's WAN port using a Cat6 cable, then activate the modem with your provider; the step people miss is forgetting to register the MAC address with Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox or their cable company before expecting service.
The modem has no user-serviceable parts; keep vents clear of dust and reboot occasionally, but plan to replace the unit only when your provider upgrades the network beyond DOCSIS 3.1 or the 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port no longer matches your plan speed.
The 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port is the hard ceiling; even though DOCSIS 3.1 can deliver up to 2.5 Gbps downstream, any traffic above that port rate will queue or drop at the single LAN interface.
