HP 1XB20A 775 500ml Chromatic Red ink cartridge

Chromatic Red Ink Cartridge

The HP 1XB20A is a genuine 500ml chromatic red ink cartridge designed for the HP DesignJet Z6 Pro Printer. It uses dye-based HP Vivid Photo Inks to produce an expanded RGB color gamut for professional photo and graphics output. Print service providers and GIS users rely on this cartridge for high-contrast, high-definition technical prints.

Dye-Based Ink Limitations

Dye-based inks achieve vivid color saturation but offer lower resistance to light and environmental exposure than pigment alternatives. The formulation is engineered specifically for the supported DesignJet Z-series hardware and printhead architecture. Using this cartridge outside the validated printer models risks printhead damage and voids the printhead warranty protection.

Upgrade from Standard Inks

This cartridge replaces standard four-color ink sets by adding a dedicated chromatic red channel for smoother gradients and richer skin tones. The jump is worthwhile when producing fine-art reproductions, retail graphics, or GIS maps that demand the highest Wilhelm permanence ratings. Buyers who need only general-purpose CAD line drawings or monochrome output will not benefit from the expanded gamut.
