HP 36.4 GB Ultra320 SCSI Drive

This HP 306637-001 module provides 36.4 GB of storage on a 10000 RPM Ultra320 SCSI interface. The 3.5 inch form factor with a 1.0 inch height fits standard hot-pluggable bays using an 80-pin connector. It ships new with an integrated tray for immediate installation in compatible enclosures.

Suited for legacy SCSI arrays

This drive suits administrators maintaining existing Ultra320 SCSI infrastructure or replacing a failed 36.4 GB unit in a hot-swap tray. It is not for systems that require a different pin count, interface protocol, or physical form factor. Buyers needing higher capacities or newer interface standards should look at other product categories.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 36.4 GB version or a different capacity for this 10000 RPM Ultra320 SCSI drive?

The part number 306637-001 is only offered in a single 36.4 GB capacity, so there is no alternative capacity to select for this specific module.

What does the 320 MB/s Ultra320 rating mean for actual throughput in a 3.5-inch hot-pluggable bay?

The 320 MB/s figure is the peak interface burst rate; sustained transfer will be lower and depends on the 10000 RPM spindle speed and the host controller's ability to keep the 80-pin bus saturated.
