Provides two 10Gb SFP+ ports over a PCIe 3.0 x8 interface for optical fibre connectivity

  • Dual 10Gb SFP+ ports for high-speed optical links
  • PCIe 3.0 x8 interface delivers 16 GT/s lane bandwidth
  • FlexFabric 556FLR-SFP+ adapter integrates networking and storage traffic
  • Refurbished HP module validated for ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10 servers

HP Flexfabric 10Gb 2-Port Network Adapter

This HP Flexfabric adapter provides two 10Gb optical fibre ports for server networking. It installs in a PCI Express 3.0 x8 slot and carries model number 764460-001. The module is supplied in refurbished condition.

PCIe 3.0 x8 slot required

The card needs a PCI Express 3.0 x8 connection to operate at its rated 10Gb speed per port. Systems limited to x4 or PCIe 2.0 will reduce available bandwidth. Buyers without a compatible x8 slot cannot use this adapter.

Questions about this item

How does the 10 Gb per port speed translate to actual throughput in a server?

Each SFP+ port delivers up to 10 gigabits per second of raw bandwidth; real-world throughput depends on the connected switch, cable quality and the host system's PCIe 3.0 x8 capacity.

What does the PCIe 3.0 x8 interface limit in practice?

The PCIe 3.0 x8 slot provides the electrical lanes for both 10 Gb ports; it caps total bidirectional traffic to the bandwidth available on eight third-generation lanes.
