HP AJ763-63002 8Gb Fibre Channel HBA

The HP AJ763-63002 Storageworks 82E is an 8Gb dual-channel Fibre Channel host bus adapter built for servers that connect to external storage arrays. It installs in a PCIe x8 slot and ships with a standard bracket for full-height chassis. This new adapter suits administrators expanding SAN connectivity in enterprise environments.

Dual-channel 8Gb Fibre Channel over PCIe x8

The card provides two independent 8Gb Fibre Channel ports on a single PCIe x8 interface, delivering the throughput needed for dual-path storage fabrics. Buyers who require a different port count, a higher link speed or a low-profile bracket will need another adapter.

Questions about this item

What does the 8 Gb dual-channel rating mean once the card is installed in a server?

The adapter provides two independent Fibre Channel ports, each operating at 8 Gb/s, so the server can maintain two separate storage connections at that speed.

What does the PCIe x8 interface mean for actual bandwidth?

The card uses a PCIe x8 slot, which supplies enough lane bandwidth to run both 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel ports without bottlenecks.
