Manages up to 16 access points with stateful firewall enforcement at 8 Gbps for branch offices
The HP Aruba 7005 is a Cloud Services Controller designed to manage up to 16 access points for branch office deployments. It provides configuration, management, encryption and application visibility for secure enterprise networking. The desktop unit includes four RJ-45 network ports and a USB interface.
Organisations that require a hardware controller for up to 16 APs with stateful firewall enforcement at 8 Gbps will find this model appropriate. Buyers who need more storage for local logging or builders who need a second controller for high-availability clustering should look at larger models in the 7000 series.
This controller is licensed for a maximum of 16 connected access points, a limit that defines its capacity tier within the 7000 series. Confirm that your planned wireless deployment will not exceed this AP count before purchasing.

The 7005 provides four RJ-45 network ports, so your switch needs at least four free Ethernet ports to connect all uplinks.
The 7005 supports up to 16 APs and runs ArubaOS, so it can manage any Aruba AP model that is compatible with the same ArubaOS version running on the controller.
Log into the ArubaOS management interface and check the AP table; it will show the number of connected APs, up to the 16-AP limit for the 7005.
