Mobile professional workstation

The HP Elite x2 1012 G1 is a detachable 2-in-1 laptop with a 12.0" FHD IPS touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core m7-6Y75 dual-core processor with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The package includes a travel keyboard and an HP Active Pen with Wacom technology for precise input on the go.

Thunderbolt 3 single-port constraint

Connectivity relies on one USB Type-C port that carries Thunderbolt 3 plus a single USB 3.0 port for legacy peripherals. Wireless links use 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 for accessories and network access. The sole Thunderbolt 3 connection limits simultaneous high-speed docks, external GPUs or multi-monitor chains unless a multi-function hub is added.

Detachable assembly with magnetic alignment

The tablet snaps onto the travel keyboard using magnetic guides that align the pogo-pin connector automatically. Pen pairing occurs over Bluetooth 4.2 after a brief button press on the stylus. Common issues include debris on the connector pins causing intermittent keyboard detection and pen tip wear that reduces ink accuracy over time.
