Target user

The HP Elite x2 1013 G3 is a detachable 2-in-1 laptop built for professionals who need a full Windows 11 Pro device that converts into a tablet. It suits mobile workers who value pen input and a compact footprint over raw graphics power. The integrated graphics and soldered memory make it a poor fit for buyers who want more storage or builders who need a second card for heavy rendering.

Deciding specification

The 3000 x 2000 IPS touchscreen covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is the feature that determines whether this unit matches the workflow. That resolution drives sharp text and accurate touch response on a 13.3 inch panel, but the Intel UHD Graphics 620 limits external display options to the Thunderbolt video output. Buyers who need a higher refresh rate or discrete GPU should look elsewhere.

Installation reality

The tablet snaps onto the included backlit travel keyboard with a magnetic hinge, so no tools are required to switch modes. The 16 GB LPDDR3 memory is soldered and the 256 GB NVMe SSD sits in an M.2 slot that is accessible only after removing internal screws. Opening the chassis risks damaging the display cable, so most owners treat the configuration as fixed.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.6 GHz Turbo Boost speed help when I am running demanding apps on this i5-8350U?

The processor can lift from its 1.7 GHz base to 3.6 GHz for short bursts, giving extra headroom for heavy workloads such as large spreadsheets or video encoding.

What does the Thunderbolt interface on the USB Type-C port actually cap in real use?

The Thunderbolt-enabled USB-C port carries DisplayPort 1.2 video and high-speed data, letting you drive an external monitor and connect fast peripherals through one cable.

Will the detachable tablet section fit into a standard 13-inch sleeve when I remove the keyboard?

The tablet alone measures 13.3 inches diagonally with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, so a 13-inch sleeve designed for ultra-slim 2-in-1 devices will accommodate it.
