Business-ready 14" laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 delivers a 14.0" HD display driven by an Intel Core i7-6600U running at 2.60 GHz. With 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD it handles office workloads and multitasking smoothly. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment in managed environments. The non-touch screen keeps the chassis light for daily carry.

Thermals and power profile

Integrated graphics and a dual-core processor keep heat output modest during typical document, browser and video tasks. Fan activity remains low in standard office use, preserving a quiet workspace. Power draw stays efficient, supporting extended sessions away from a desk charger. The design balances performance per watt for everyday productivity.

Missing webcam and connectivity

No built-in camera means users needing video calls must add an external USB webcam. Bluetooth is present for wireless peripherals such as mice, keyboards or headsets. The 1366 x 768 resolution suits standard business applications but limits multi-window detail. Buyers who want higher pixel density or an integrated camera should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256 GB SSD in this EliteBook 840 G3, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into the M.2 slot at a slight angle, press it flat, and secure it with the single screw; the step most people skip is tightening that screw, which leaves the drive loose and unrecognised.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The memory is soldered to the board, so it cannot be upgraded or replaced; the only memory-related maintenance is keeping the system free of dust so the integrated graphics stay cool.

At what point does the 2.60 GHz Core i7-6600U hit its limit during sustained workloads?

Under continuous load the dual-core processor reaches its thermal ceiling and throttles clock speeds to stay within its power envelope, which is the first limit you will notice.
