Ready-to-work 14-inch business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a new 14-inch laptop built for everyday office tasks. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor at 2.4 GHz with 16 GB of DDR4 memory. A 512 GB SATA SSD provides fast boot times and ample space for documents and applications. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed.

Suited to mobile professionals needing core

This unit fits users who rely on a mix of modern and legacy ports: two USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 Type C, full-size DisplayPort, VGA and Gigabit Ethernet. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 non-touch panel and supports external monitors. Buyers who need a higher-resolution screen, dedicated graphics or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Deciding spec: 1366 x 768 non-touch display

The 14-inch LED panel runs at 1366 x 768 resolution without touch input. If your workflow requires sharper text, wider colour coverage or pen support, this display will not meet those needs. For standard business applications, video calls and multi-monitor docking via DisplayPort or VGA, the screen is adequate.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i5-6300U is running at its 2.4 GHz base speed after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU clock settle at 2.4 GHz while idle; the processor has 2 cores and 4 threads with 3 MB L3 cache.

What comes in the box and what must I source separately?

The package includes the laptop, charger, and battery; no optical drive is fitted, so external media or a docking station would be separate purchases.

Should I choose the 16 GB DDR4 / 512 GB SATA SSD configuration or look for a different capacity?

This unit ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD; both are fixed for this model, so select it if that capacity meets your workload.
