Professionals needing a portable business machine

This suits professionals who want a lightweight 14-inch business laptop with a crisp 1920 x 1080 display, integrated Intel HD Graphics 520, and the ability to expand memory up to 32 GB across two slots. Buyers who require a pre-installed Windows licence, a touchscreen, dedicated graphics, or larger storage capacity should consider other options.

No operating system included

The single specification that decides suitability is the absence of an operating system; you must supply and install your own Windows or Linux licence before the laptop can be used.

Questions about this item

Do I need to buy a Windows licence separately because the EliteBook 840 G3 ships with no operating system?

Yes, the laptop arrives without an OS so you must acquire and install your own copy of Windows or another operating system before you can use it.

Will my existing DDR3 SODIMM modules work if I want to expand the 16 GB already installed?

The system uses DDR3 memory and has two slots supporting up to 32 GB total, so compatible DDR3 SODIMMs can be added to the factory 16 GB.

How can I confirm the 240 GB NVMe drive is detected after I install an OS?

Open the BIOS or the OS disk-management tool; the M.2 NVMe SSD should appear as a 240 GB bootable device with the correct capacity shown.
