Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with four cores and eight threads. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. A 1920 x 1080 LED-backlit display and Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle everyday visual tasks. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed.

Suited to office work and light travel

This configuration suits professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine for document editing, web browsing and video calls. The integrated graphics and 8GB of shared memory limit its appeal for buyers who want more storage or who need discrete GPU power for 3D rendering, heavy video editing or modern gaming workloads.

Check ports, power and peripherals

Verify that your existing dock or hub matches the available USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports and the single USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 connection. Confirm the 65 W charger tip fits your spare adapters. Ensure any external monitors you plan to use accept the HDMI output.
