Questions about this item

Can I use the EliteBook 840 G5's USB 3.0 ports with my older USB 2.0 peripherals?

Yes, the two USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible, so existing USB 2.0 mice, keyboards, drives or hubs will work at their normal speeds without any adapters.

How can I confirm the i7-8650U is hitting its 4.2 GHz turbo after setup?

Open Task Manager's Performance tab or a tool such as HWiNFO and watch the core clocks while running a heavy single-thread load; they should climb to 4.2 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The laptop, a 65 W USB-C power adapter and mains lead are included; no dock, external monitor, carrying case or recovery media are supplied.
