HP EliteBook 840 G5 with Core i5-7200U

This 14.0 inch laptop runs Windows 10 Pro on a 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7200U at 2.50GHz. It includes 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses integrated Intel HD Graphics 620. It is built for everyday office tasks and web browsing.

Suited for office work not heavy graphics

The integrated graphics and 8GB RAM handle documents, email and video calls smoothly. Buyers who want more storage or memory for large media projects should look elsewhere. Gamers or creators needing discrete GPU power will not find it here.

256GB SSD capacity decides fit

The single 256GB solid-state drive sets the total space for the operating system, applications and files. Users with large local libraries must add external storage or choose a different model. No second drive bay is mentioned in the specifications.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the EliteBook 840 G5 get when the i5-7200U runs at 2.50 GHz all day?

The Intel HD Graphics 620 and 8 GB of memory share the same thermal zone, so sustained loads keep the fan audible but the chassis stays comfortable on a desk.

What cables or docks must I already own to drive a second 1920 x 1080 monitor from this laptop?

You need a USB-C or DisplayPort cable that matches the ports on your external display; the built-in 14.0" panel uses the internal eDP connection.

Will my older USB-A peripherals and HDMI monitor work straight away with the EliteBook 840 G5?

Yes, the laptop includes full-size USB-A and HDMI ports, so legacy keyboards, mice and 1080p screens connect without adapters.
