32 GB DDR4 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 delivers a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor, 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD in a 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. Windows 10 Pro, Intel UHD Graphics 620 and a single Thunderbolt 3 port complete the specification. The silver chassis includes a 720p webcam, HDMI output, Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports.

Who this suits and who it does not

Mobile professionals who need 32 GB of system memory for virtual machines, large spreadsheets or heavy browser workloads will benefit from this configuration. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics processor, a touchscreen panel, more than 256 GB of internal storage or a newer Windows licence should consider other models.

The spec that decides fit

The single Thunderbolt 3 port provides 40 Gbps data, DisplayPort video and charging through one USB-C connector, so docking a dual-monitor setup or an external GPU enclosure works without extra adapters. If your workflow depends on multiple Thunderbolt devices or legacy USB-A docking stations, verify your hub requirements before purchasing.
