Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14.0 inch notebook built for workers who need a reliable Windows 11 Pro machine on the move. Its quad-core Intel Core i7-8665U processor runs at 1.9 GHz with 8 MB of cache, while 16 GB of DDR4 memory keeps multiple business applications responsive. A 2 TB NVMe drive provides ample space for large project files and local databases.

Storage capacity and multitasking headroom

The 2 TB NVMe SSD offers generous room for operating system, applications and extensive data sets without relying on external drives. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory handles typical office workloads, video calls and browser-heavy research comfortably. Very large virtual machines or heavy creative suites may push against the 16 GB limit and the shared graphics memory of the Intel UHD Graphics.

Thermals, noise and power draw

The 15 W processor is designed for thin-and-light chassis, so sustained loads run warm but stay within the cooling capacity of the 14 inch body. Fan noise remains low during document work, web browsing and video playback, rising only under prolonged compile or render tasks. The included charger supplies enough power for normal use while keeping the battery topped up.

Questions about this item

Can I connect my older USB 3.0 peripherals to the USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports on this EliteBook 840 G6?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports are fully backwards compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices, so existing mice, keyboards, and external drives will work without adapters.

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-8665U is running at its 1.9 GHz base speed after I set up Windows 11 Pro?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU, and confirm the base speed reads 1.90 GHz while the laptop is idle on AC power.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt 3 cable for the USB-C port, or must I buy one separately?

The package contains the laptop, its charger, and the installed battery only; a Thunderbolt 3 cable is not included and must be purchased separately if needed.
