14-inch business laptop with Thunderbolt 3

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8665U processor running at 1.9 GHz. It comes with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Suits professionals needing a portable 14-inch chassis with quad-core performance, 32 GB RAM, and fast NVMe storage for office productivity and multi-monitor setups via Thunderbolt 3. Not for buyers who require a dedicated graphics processor, a touchscreen display, or a larger screen size for creative work.

Deciding specification: Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port

The single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port provides 40 Gbps data transfer, DisplayPort video output, and power delivery through one connector. It enables connection to Thunderbolt docks, external GPUs, and high-resolution monitors. If your workflow depends on Thunderbolt peripherals, this port is essential; if you only need standard USB-C, other models may suffice.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 32GB DDR4 and 1TB NVMe version or look for a different capacity?

This unit ships with 32GB DDR4 and a 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The memory and storage are fixed at those amounts, so there is no alternative capacity to select for this listing.

What does the i7-8665U 1.9GHz quad-core actually deliver in daily work?

The Intel Core i7-8665U runs at 1.9GHz base with four cores and eight threads, 8MB cache and a 15W envelope. It handles office suites, web apps and light creative tasks smoothly while keeping thermals modest in the 14.0" chassis.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port drive in practice?

The single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port supports 40Gbps data, DisplayPort video and power delivery. You can run dual 4K displays through a dock, attach NVMe enclosures at near-native speed, or charge the laptop from a compatible hub.
