Professional Mobile Workstation

The HP EliteBook 840 G7 is a 14.0 inch touchscreen laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 11 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i5 10210U processor with four cores and 6 MB cache, supported by 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 FHD display with LED backlight. Connectivity includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, two USB Type C Thunderbolt 3 ports, HDMI, Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.

Suited For Mobile Professionals Not For Intensive

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need a responsive touchscreen, ample solid-state storage and modern wireless connectivity in a silver chassis. Buyers who require discrete graphics performance for 3D rendering, video editing or gaming should look elsewhere because the system relies on shared-memory integrated graphics. The Grade B cosmetic condition means visible scratches or shiny key surfaces are present, so buyers seeking a pristine appearance should consider other stock.

Deciding Specification Touchscreen FHD Display

The single specification that decides fit is the combination of a 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. This pairing delivers direct on-screen interaction and very large fast storage in a 15 W ultrabook form factor. If your workflow does not need touch input or that storage capacity, a non-touch model with a smaller drive may be more appropriate.

Questions about this item

Can the 16 GB DDR4 memory or the 2 TB NVMe SSD be upgraded later?

The 16 GB DDR4 memory is soldered and cannot be expanded. The 2 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD occupies the single M.2 slot, so a larger drive would require replacing the existing module.

What thermal limit appears first when the i5-10210U runs at full load for long periods?

The 15 W TDP ceiling is reached quickly; the quad-core Comet Lake chip then throttles clocks to stay within its thermal envelope, capping sustained performance.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day workload?

Under continuous load the single fan spins up to an audible whir and the keyboard deck becomes noticeably warm, especially near the rear vent, while the 15 W processor maintains its reduced turbo speeds.
