Built for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14 business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor and 16GB of memory. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 512GB solid-state drive. The compact chassis suits consultants and office workers who move between desks and meetings daily.

Stepping up from dual-core ultraportables

This configuration replaces older 14 machines limited to four threads and slower storage. The jump is worth it when your workflow keeps ten browser tabs, a video call and a large spreadsheet open at once. Buyers who need discrete graphics or a larger screen should look elsewhere.

Consistent output during long sessions

The i7-1185G7 maintains its multi-core clocks while the cooling system manages heat across an eight-hour workday. The 512GB drive sustains write speeds during backups and virtual-machine updates. Fan noise stays at office-friendly levels even under continuous load.

Questions about this item

What are the physical dimensions and mounting requirements for the HP EliteBook 840 G8 14-inch chassis?

The EliteBook 840 G8 uses a 14-inch form factor with a compact professional design built for business mobility. It fits standard laptop bags and sleeves sized for 14-inch ultraportables without needing special mounting hardware or brackets.

How do I perform a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro on the 512GB SSD, and what step is commonly missed?

Boot from Windows 11 Pro installation media, select the 512GB SSD as the target, and ensure the drive controller mode in BIOS matches the original configuration. The step often missed is re-enabling BitLocker or TPM settings after the install completes.

Which components in the EliteBook 840 G8 will likely need replacement or servicing after extended business use?

The 512GB SSD and internal battery are the primary components that degrade over time. The 16GB RAM is soldered and not user-replaceable. SSD health can be monitored via SMART tools, while battery capacity should be checked annually.
