HP Elitebook 840 G8 laptop

The HP Elitebook 840 G8 is a 14 laptop built for everyday business computing. It runs on an Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor clocked at 2.60 GHz. The system includes 16GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD for the operating system and files. It ships with Windows 11 Pro installed.

Suits mobile professionals needing a light 14.0

This configuration suits professionals who value a light 2.9700 kg chassis and a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display for office applications and video calls. The integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics handles standard productivity and streaming tasks. Buyers who want more storage capacity or a dedicated graphics card for heavy creative workloads should look at a different configuration.

16GB soldered memory defines upgrade limits

The 16GB of memory is soldered to the motherboard, so the capacity cannot be increased after purchase. This fixed amount decides whether the laptop can handle your long-term multitasking needs. The 256 GB solid-state drive can be replaced with a larger unit if more local space is required later.

Questions about this item

How do I install the operating system on the HP Elitebook 840 G8, and which step is commonly missed?

Create a bootable USB with Windows 11 Pro, boot from it, and follow the installer. The step often missed is selecting the 256 GB SSD as the target drive before partitioning.

Which component in the Elitebook 840 G8 will need replacement first during long-term ownership?

The internal battery will degrade before the 16 GB of soldered memory or the 256 GB solid-state drive, so plan for a battery swap after several years of daily charging cycles.

What performance limit appears first when the Core i5-1145G7 runs at 2.60 GHz under sustained load?

The Intel Iris Xe graphics share the 16 GB system memory, so extended heavy rendering or gaming hits the shared-memory ceiling before the processor reaches its thermal ceiling.
