Target audience

The HP EliteBook 840 G9 is a 14-inch business laptop built around a 10-core Intel Core i5-1245U processor with 32GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and a non-touch 1920 x 1200 display. The integrated graphics suit office applications and video calls rather than 3D workloads.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous multi-threaded work the 10 cores can reach 4.4GHz turbo, though clocks will settle lower as the thin chassis manages heat. The 32GB RAM keeps virtual-memory pressure low during heavy multitasking, while the 256GB SSD provides fast boot and app launches without the capacity for large local datasets.

Thermals noise power

The fanless-idle design stays silent during light tasks such as email or document editing. When the processor sustains higher loads the single fan becomes audible but remains within typical office-background levels. Integrated graphics and the efficient 12th-generation architecture keep power draw modest, supporting all-day battery life on the 14.0-inch panel.

Questions about this item

How hot or loud does the Core i5-1245U get when the EliteBook 840 G9 runs all day?

The 10-core processor reaches a 4.4 GHz turbo frequency under load. Integrated graphics share the same thermal envelope, so sustained workloads will warm the chassis and spin the internal fan.

What must I already own to start working with the 32 GB, 256 GB SSD configuration?

Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed and the 32 GB memory is soldered. Only a power adapter and any USB peripherals you prefer are required to begin.

Can I keep using my older 802.11ac router and Bluetooth accessories with this laptop?

Yes. The built-in 802.11ac wireless LAN and Bluetooth radio connect directly to existing routers, mice, keyboards and headsets without extra hardware.
