HP EliteBook 845 G8 14" business laptop

The HP EliteBook 845 G8 is a 14.0 inch business laptop with a silver aluminium chassis. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U eight-core processor with 16MB L2 and 16MB L3 cache. Integrated AMD Radeon graphics use shared system memory. The 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display has LED backlighting. Storage is a 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD paired with 8GB DDR4 RAM.

Suits mobile professionals needing durable daily

This grade B unit fits professionals who want a MIL-STD tested chassis, USB-C with power delivery and DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI, two USB-A ports, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5 for docked or mobile workflows. The 512GB NVMe drive and 16-thread CPU handle typical office multitasking. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a larger screen, or more than 8GB of memory should look elsewhere.

8GB DDR4 soldered memory limits upgrades

The single specification that decides fit is the 8GB DDR4 configuration which cannot be expanded. If your workload regularly exceeds this capacity — heavy virtualisation, large datasets or memory-hungry creative apps — this unit will throttle. For lighter office, web and streaming tasks the fixed 8GB is adequate.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U get when the EliteBook 845 G8 runs all day?

The 8-core Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U has a low base clock of 1.9 GHz and integrated Radeon graphics, so it stays cool and quiet under typical office workloads.

What cables or docks must I already own to use the two USB-C 10Gbps ports for power and video?

You need a USB-C charger that supports USB Power Delivery and a USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable or adapter for external monitors.

Will the 8GB DDR4 and shared Radeon memory slow down older peripherals I keep using?

The 8GB DDR4 is soldered and not upgradeable, and the Radeon graphics uses system memory, so heavy multitasking with legacy USB-A devices may feel slower.
