HP EliteBook 850 G2 15.6 inch laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G2 is a 15.6 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor running at 2.20 GHz with a turbo frequency of 2.70 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The HD display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and is driven by Intel HD Graphics 5500. The unit ships without an operating system.

Suits office and web work.

This configuration suits users who need a reliable machine for office applications, web browsing and video conferencing. The dual-core processor and integrated graphics limit performance in modern gaming, 3D rendering or multi-track video editing. Buyers who want more storage than 500GB or a touchscreen display should look elsewhere. The laptop supports up to 16GB of memory across two slots for a future upgrade.

500GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD defines storage speed

The single specification that decides fit is the 500GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. It provides solid-state boot and application load times within the SATA interface limits. Users requiring the higher throughput of a different storage interface or a larger capacity drive will need to replace this drive or choose another system.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR3 configuration or upgrade to the 16 GB maximum?

The laptop ships with 8 GB DDR3 across two slots and supports up to 16 GB total, so adding another 8 GB module later is straightforward if you need more headroom for multitasking.

What does the 2.20 GHz base clock with 2.70 GHz turbo mean for everyday workloads?

The dual-core i5-5200U runs at 2.20 GHz normally and can boost to 2.70 GHz on short bursts, giving snappy response for office apps and web browsing while staying cool in the thin chassis.

How fast is the 500 GB SSD over the 2.5" SATA connection?

The 500 GB SSD uses a 2.5" SATA interface, delivering solid-state boot and load times far quicker than a mechanical drive while fitting the standard drive bay.
