Business-grade laptop with 32 GB DDR4

The EliteBook 850 G5 pairs an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 drive. It ships with Windows 11 Pro installed and a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD LED panel. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory for everyday visual tasks.

Single Thunderbolt 3 port and legacy I/O

One USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 connection handles power delivery, external displays and high-speed peripherals through a single cable. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, full-size HDMI and a gigabit RJ-45 jack cover docks, monitors and wired networks without adapters. The non-touch chassis keeps weight and thickness modest for mobile professionals.

15 W CPU sustains output under load

The 15-watt Kaby Lake R silicon maintains its 1.9 GHz base clock during extended compile, spreadsheet or video-call sessions thanks to the business-class thermal design. Shared graphics memory scales dynamically with the 32 GB pool, avoiding VRAM bottlenecks in multi-monitor setups. Fan noise remains office-appropriate even during prolonged workloads.

Questions about this item

Does the 15 W TDP of the i7-8650U limit clock speed during long renders?

The 15 W rating means the quad-core chip will throttle under continuous heavy load, so sustained frequencies drop below the 1.9 GHz base.

How loud does the fan get when the UHD 620 iGPU shares the cooling with the CPU all day?

The single fan must dissipate both the 15 W processor and the integrated graphics, so it spins up audibly during extended workloads.

Will my existing Thunderbolt 3 dock charge the laptop and drive the 1920 x 1080 display?

The USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port supports power delivery and video output, so a compatible dock can charge the system and run the FHD screen.
