HP EliteBook 850 G6 15.6-inch laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G6 is a 15.6-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8665U processor running at 1.9 GHz with 4 cores and 8 threads. It comes with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The display is a non-touch 1920 x 1080 FHD LED panel. It runs Windows 11 Pro and includes Intel UHD Graphics with shared memory.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits professionals needing a portable 15.6-inch device for office applications, video calls and multi-monitor setups via HDMI and Thunderbolt 3. Buyers who want a dedicated GPU for 3D work or gaming should look elsewhere. Those requiring a touchscreen, a larger screen or more than 16 GB of memory will need a different model.

Deciding specification: 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD

The single specification that decides fit is the 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. It provides fast boot and load times plus ample space for large project files and local databases. If your workflow demands more internal storage or a second drive bay, this configuration will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

Does the box contain only the laptop, charger and battery, or do I need to buy a docking station or external monitor separately?

The package includes the laptop, its charger and the installed battery. A Thunderbolt 3 dock or external display can be added later via the USB-C or HDMI ports if you need extra connectivity.

Should I choose a model with a larger SSD or more RAM than the 1 TB NVMe and 16 GB DDR4 already fitted?

The 1 TB NVMe drive and 16 GB DDR4 memory are fixed in this configuration; there is no alternative capacity listed, so the decision is simply whether that amount suits your workload.

What does the 1.9 GHz base clock of the i7-8665U mean for everyday performance once the laptop is running Windows 11 Pro?

The quad-core 1.9 GHz processor with 8 MB cache and 15 W power limit handles typical office tasks, web browsing and video playback smoothly, while the integrated UHD Graphics shares system memory for display output.
