Core performance for business users

The HP EliteBook 850 G6 combines an Intel Core i7-8665U processor with a 1.9 GHz base frequency and up to 4.8 GHz turbo boost. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive provide responsive multitasking for office applications. The 15.6-inch FHD non-touch display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution suited to document work and video calls.

Sustained workload behaviour

The four-core processor maintains elevated clocks under continuous load thanks to Intel Turbo Boost Technology and 8 MB of L3 cache. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks without a discrete GPU. Thermal management keeps the chassis stable during extended sessions, while the 256 GB SSD sustains consistent read and write speeds for large file transfers.

Installation and common pitfalls

Windows 11 Professional is pre-installed and ready to use after the initial setup wizard. Memory can be expanded to a maximum of 32 GB using DDR4-2400 modules. The single USB 3.1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt support handles docking and external displays, though an HDMI 1.4b cable is not included. Buyers needing more internal storage or a touchscreen should consider other models.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-8665U stay quiet when running all day?

The quad-core i7-8665U has a 15 W base TDP and boosts to 4.8 GHz, so fan noise is moderate under sustained load.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt-capable USB 3.1 Type-C port?

A Thunderbolt 3 dock or cable, or any USB-C accessory, is required; the port supplies power and video but no adapter is included.

Will the HDMI 1.4b port drive my older 1080p monitor?

Yes, the HDMI 1.4b output supports 1920 x 1080 resolution for a direct connection to an existing display.
