Business Mini PC

The HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Mini is a compact desktop built for office environments that need a small footprint and Windows 10 Pro. It ships with an AMD PRO A6-9500E dual-core processor, 32 GB of DDR4-2666 memory and a 1 TB SSD. The 35 W APU includes integrated Radeon graphics for everyday productivity.

Upgrade from older SATA systems

This unit replaces ageing towers that still rely on mechanical hard drives and lower memory capacities. The jump is worth it when workflows demand faster boot times, snappier application launches and the ability to keep many browser tabs or documents open simultaneously. The dual SODIMM layout allows the 32 GB configuration without sacrificing a slot.

DisplayPort 1.2 and M.2 constraints

Video output uses DisplayPort 1.2, limiting external monitors to the bandwidth of that standard rather than newer revisions. The single M.2 2280/2230 combo slot handles storage, while a separate 2230 key is reserved for wireless, so adding a second high-speed drive is not possible. The sole internal SATA connector supports one optional 2.5-inch drive only.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions of the 2.5-inch drive bay and which SATA connector does it use?

The chassis includes one internal 2.5-inch storage bay that connects to the single internal SATA data and power connector on the motherboard.

How do I access the two SODIMM slots to reach the 32 GB DDR4-2666 configuration, and which screw do people forget?

Remove the bottom cover by releasing the single captive screw; the two SODIMM slots lie side-by-side underneath and accept 2666 MT/s DDR4 modules.

Which M.2 slot should I use for a 2280 SSD upgrade, and does it share bandwidth with the WLAN slot?

Use the M.2 PCIe x2 2280/2230 combo slot for a 2280 drive; the separate M.2 PCIe x1 2230 slot is reserved for WLAN and does not share its lanes.
