Compact desktop for office and study

The HP EliteDesk 705 G5 Mini packs a Ryzen 5 PRO 3400GE with four cores and Radeon Vega 11 graphics into a small black chassis. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4-2666 memory and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed, and wireless connectivity comes from Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. The unit targets students and home-office users who need a tidy, ready-to-go system.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

A 65 W power supply feeds the whole platform, so typical office workloads draw modest power and keep heat output low. The integrated Vega 11 graphics share system memory, avoiding a separate GPU and its associated fan noise. Under light multitasking the chassis stays quiet, and the compact form factor fits on a crowded desk without blocking airflow.

Included accessories and software impact

No monitor, optical drive or mechanical hard drive are supplied, so buyers add their own display and bulk storage if required. Audio connections are limited to two 3.5 mm jacks for headphone or headset use. Windows 10 Pro enables domain join and BitLocker for managed environments. The single 8 GB memory module leaves one slot free for a future upgrade.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD in the EliteDesk 705 G5 Mini, and what step is often missed?

Slide the M.2 drive into the slot at a shallow angle, then secure it with the single retention screw; forgetting the screw leaves the drive loose and undetected.

What maintenance or replacement will the AMD Radeon Vega 11 graphics need later?

The integrated Vega 11 shares system memory and has no separate VRAM to service; only driver updates and occasional dust removal from the Mini chassis are required.

What limit appears first on the Ryzen 5 PRO 3400GE under sustained load with the 65 W power supply?

The 65 W power budget caps combined CPU and GPU boost clocks, so the 4 GHz max boost cannot be held continuously during heavy workloads.
