HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Small Form Factor PC

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 is a compact desktop computer built for everyday office tasks. It ships with an Intel Core i5-8500 processor, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed alongside a USB keyboard and wired mouse, so the system is ready for immediate deployment.

Thermals noise and power draw

The small form factor chassis is designed for quiet operation in standard office environments. Typical workloads such as document editing and web browsing keep fan speeds low and power consumption modest. The included power cord delivers the necessary energy without requiring an external adapter.

256 GB SSD capacity

The 256 GB solid-state drive provides fast boot times and responsive application launches for a core set of business programs. Buyers who need more storage for large media libraries or extensive local databases will find the internal capacity limiting.

Questions about this item

How do I add more DDR4 memory to the EliteDesk 800 G4 and what step is often missed?

Open the small-form-factor case, insert the DDR4 module until the retention clips click on both sides, then verify the new total in BIOS — the step most people skip is reseating the module firmly enough to engage both clips.

Which component in this EliteDesk 800 G4 is most likely to need replacement after several years of daily use?

The 256 GB SSD has a finite write endurance; once its reserved blocks are exhausted the drive will switch to read-only mode, so plan to replace it when SMART health drops below 80 %.

What thermal limit appears first when the i5-8500 runs at full load for long periods inside this SFF chassis?

The compact cooler hits its dissipation ceiling and the processor begins throttling to stay within its thermal envelope, reducing sustained clock speeds until the workload eases.
