HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Micro i7-8700T

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Micro is a compact desktop computer powered by a hexa-core Intel Core i7-8700T processor running at 2.4 GHz. It comes with 32 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD, and ships with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed for immediate use.

Suitability and limitations

This system suits office workers and home users who need a space-saving PC for productivity, web browsing and dual-display setups via the two DisplayPort outputs. Buyers who want more storage or a discrete graphics card for gaming or rendering should look at other configurations.

Deciding specification

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles everyday visual tasks and supports two monitors, but it cannot deliver playable frame rates in modern 3D titles or accelerate heavy GPU compute workloads.

Questions about this item

How do I install the USB Wi-Fi adapter and what is the common mistake?

Plug the USB Wi-Fi adapter into any free USB port; the step people miss is installing the driver before expecting a connection.

Which component will need replacement first and what is the maximum supported memory?

The 512GB SSD has a finite write life and will likely need replacement before other parts; memory can be expanded to 64GB across the two slots.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained loads on the i7-8700T?

The 2.4GHz base clock on the 6-core i7-8700T will throttle down when the Micro chassis hits its thermal ceiling under prolonged heavy work.
