HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF Business Desktop

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF is a compact business desktop built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz up to 4.1 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory, a 512 GB M.2 SSD plus a 1 TB hard drive, and a 24 inch IPS Full HD borderless monitor. Windows 10 Pro, USB keyboard and mouse are included.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The 65 W processor operates within a small form factor chassis designed for office environments. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics eliminates a discrete card, keeping heat output and fan noise low during typical productivity workloads. A USB 5 GHz capable wireless dongle adds connectivity without increasing internal thermal load.

Dual-Drive Storage Configuration

The operating system installs on the 512 GB M.2 solid state drive while the 1 TB hard drive provides bulk capacity for files and archives. This dual-drive layout suits users who want fast boot times and ample local storage in one unit. Buyers needing more than 1 TB of total space or a second M.2 slot should consider other configurations.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 16 GB DDR4 memory and what step is often missed?

The 16 GB DDR4 UDIMM modules slot into the 240-pin DIMM sockets; the step often missed is pressing each module down until both side clips click fully into the notches.

What maintenance or replacement will the 512 GB M.2 SSD and 1 TB hard drive need later?

The 512 GB M.2 SSD and 1 TB hard drive have no scheduled maintenance; replace either drive only if SMART data reports errors or capacity becomes insufficient.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics during sustained 1920 x 1080 workloads?

The Intel UHD Graphics thermal ceiling is reached first, causing the 65 W i5-8500 to throttle from 4.1 GHz toward its 3.0 GHz base frequency.
