HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF Business Desktop

This new HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF is a compact business desktop powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor reaching 4.60 GHz. It comes equipped with 32 GB DDR4 UDIMM memory and a dual-drive configuration of 256 GB M.2 SSD plus 1 TB SSD. A 24-inch IPS Full HD borderless monitor, USB keyboard and mouse are included with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed.

Suitable Users and Limitations

This system suits office environments needing a ready-to-use workstation with ample memory and fast dual solid-state storage for multitasking and quick boot times. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics and small form factor limit its use for demanding 3D rendering, high-end gaming or workloads requiring a discrete graphics card. Buyers needing PCIe expansion slots beyond the SFF layout or higher single-thread speeds should consider other platforms.

Deciding Specification: 32 GB DDR4 Memory

The 32 GB DDR4 UDIMM capacity is the key figure that determines if this desktop meets your workload requirements. It supports smooth operation with multiple business applications, large spreadsheets and virtual machines simultaneously. Verify that your intended software and operating system can utilise this memory amount, as the SFF form factor uses standard 240-pin DDR4 modules and offers no further upgrade headroom beyond this configuration.

Questions about this item

Will the 65 W i7-8700 throttle under long compile jobs in the SFF chassis?

The processor is rated at 65 W with a 4.6 GHz turbo ceiling; sustained loads in the small-form-factor case will hit that power limit before thermal headroom runs out.

How loud is the system fan when the PC and 24-inch monitor run all day?

The SFF chassis uses a single low-profile fan that stays audible but not intrusive during typical office workloads; the IPS monitor adds no fan noise.

Does the included 24-inch 1920 x 1080 monitor need a separate power cable?

Yes, the monitor ships with its own external power supply and cable; the desktop only provides DisplayPort or VGA video output.
