Compact Business Desktop for Office Tasks

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF is a small-form-factor desktop built around an Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a maximum turbo of 4.1 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2.5-inch 512 GB solid-state drive for fast boot and application loading. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed, and a USB keyboard and mouse are included in the box.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The 65-watt processor operates within a modest thermal envelope suited to the compact chassis. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics eliminates the heat and power draw of a discrete card during typical office workloads. A USB wireless dongle provides 5 GHz-capable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity without adding internal heat sources. Fan noise remains low during everyday productivity tasks such as document editing and web browsing.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under continuous multi-threaded workloads the six cores can maintain elevated frequencies within the 65 W power limit, though sustained turbo speeds will depend on the small-form-factor cooling capacity. The 512 GB SSD delivers consistent read and write performance without thermal throttling during extended file transfers. Memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using DDR4 UDIMM modules if workloads demand more than the installed 8 GB.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM in the 240-pin slots and what step is often missed?

Open the SFF case, align the notch on the DDR4 UDIMM with the 240-pin slot key, press firmly until both side clips click shut, then verify the new total in BIOS — the step most often missed is seating the module fully so both clips engage.

What maintenance or replacement will the 512 GB SSD and 8 GB DDR4 need later?

The 512 GB SSD has no moving parts and needs no scheduled replacement; the 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM can be expanded up to 32 GB using the same 240-pin DDR4 slots if more memory is required.

What limit appears first when the i5-8500 runs at 4.1 GHz under sustained load?

The 65 W TDP ceiling is reached first; the SFF cooler then throttles the hexa-core processor below its 4.1 GHz turbo to stay within the 65 W envelope.
