Target audience

The HP OmniBook X 17 is a 17.3-inch FHD touch laptop built around an Intel Ultra 7 256V processor, dedicated RTX 4050 graphics, 16GB DDR5 memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD. It suits professionals and students who need a larger interactive display for multitasking, creative work or light engineering tasks on Windows 11 Home.

Upgrade perspective

This configuration replaces smaller non-touch ultraportables or older 15-inch workstations that lack dedicated graphics and modern wireless. The jump is worthwhile when you need the 17.3-inch IPS touchscreen, the 8-core 14-thread CPU with 4.8 GHz boost and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity in a single silver chassis.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that your workflow accepts a 4.43 lb device measuring 15.65 x 10.09 x 0.65 inches and a 45 W power supply. Confirm that 16GB DDR5 and 512GB NVMe meet your memory and storage needs, as neither is user-upgradable. Check that the port selection — two USB-C 3.1, two USB-A 3.0, HDMI 2.1 and a combo jack — covers your peripherals.

Questions about this item

What clearance is needed for the 15.65 x 10.09 x 0.65 in chassis?

The laptop measures 15.65 in wide, 10.09 in deep and 0.65 in high, so allow at least that footprint plus a few millimetres for hinge movement and cable bends.

Which driver must be installed first after the Windows 11 Home setup finishes?

Install the Intel Ultra 7 256V chipset driver before the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 driver; skipping the chipset step often leaves the GPU on the Microsoft basic adapter.

When should the 45 W power supply be replaced?

Replace the 45 W adapter if the barrel connector becomes loose, the cable frays near the brick, or the unit no longer maintains charge under load.
