1U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2623v3 processors, 32GB DDR4 memory, two 500GB SATA drives and B140i software RAID
Installed Memory Size 32GB
HDD 2 x 500GB
The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2623v3 quad-core processors running at 3 GHz. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and two 500 GB 7.2K SATA drives managed by a B140i software RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1 and 5. Redundant hot-swap 550 W power supplies are included.
This configuration replaces single-socket servers or earlier Xeon E5 v2 platforms when workloads need 16 threads across two sockets and the 32 GB memory ceiling fits the dataset. The jump is worth it for environments moving to DDR4 memory and 6 Gbps SATA drives while staying in a 1U footprint. Buyers who need more than 32 GB of installed RAM or hardware RAID acceleration should evaluate other models.
The board provides 16 DIMM slots with a maximum capacity of 1 TB DDR4 at up to 2400 MT/s, though the installed 32 GB fills only two slots. Eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays accept SATA or SAS media, leaving six bays open for expansion. The B140i controller handles SATA RAID only; SAS connectivity requires an add-in card. GPU options are limited to the integrated Matrox G200 graphics core.

Other versions of this model
The chassis is 1U tall and provides 8 SFF bays for 2.5-inch drives.
Each CPU occupies one socket and owns eight DDR4 slots; populate all eight slots per processor for balanced channels.
The B140i supports RAID 0, 1, 5 for SATA only; the hot-swap 550 W units can be swapped individually without downtime.
