The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4GHz. It arrives with 8GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 16 total DIMM slots. The system includes an HP Smart HBA H240 controller and redundant hot-swap 550W power supplies. Two 1TB 7.2K 2.5-inch SAS drives are fitted in the eight available SFF bays.

This server targets environments needing balanced compute and storage density in a shallow rack footprint. The H240 controller supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 for local redundancy. Buyers who need RAID 6 or RAID 10 must select a different controller. The Matrox G200 graphics provide basic management output only. No operating system is included, so administrators must supply their own hypervisor or OS licences.

Eight SFF Drive Bays with SAS Interface

The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF bays using SAS connectivity, with two 1TB drives already installed. This bay count and interface type determine how much local storage can be added without external enclosures. The H240 also supports 6Gb SATA drives if required.
