A 2U rack server with dual Xeon six-core processors, 16 GB DDR4, a P440 RAID controller with 4 GB flash-backed cache, and 24 small-form-factor drive bays
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with two six-core Xeon E5-2609 v3 processors running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a Smart Array P440 controller backed by 4 GB of flash-backed write cache. The chassis provides 24 small-form-factor drive bays and dual 500 W redundant power supplies for continuous operation.
The front panel accepts up to 24 2.5-inch SAS drives connected through the P440 controller, which supports 12 Gb/s and 6 Gb/s link speeds. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are available for data protection or capacity aggregation. An optional rear cage can add two more SFF bays, but the 24-bay front configuration leaves no room for an internal optical drive.
The system arrives with 16 GB installed across 24 DIMM slots, twelve per processor, using DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s. The platform supports a maximum of 3 TB when fully populated with 64 GB modules, giving ample headroom for virtualisation or database workloads. Memory speed scales with the installed processor capability, so the current CPUs will determine the actual operating frequency.
