Dual 12-core Xeon 2U rack server with 8GB DDR4, two 500GB SATA drives and B140i RAID
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 2 x 500GB
The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 processors, each running at 2.3GHz with twelve cores. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and two 500GB 7.2K RPM 2.5-inch enterprise SATA drives. Redundant hot-swap 500W power supplies are included. The system targets organisations that need dense compute capacity for virtualisation or database tasks in a standard rack footprint.
The onboard B140i controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 but operates exclusively with SATA devices. SAS and NVME drives are not supported by this controller, so any expansion using those interfaces requires a separate hardware RAID card. The chassis offers eight small-form-factor bays, with optional kits to increase bay count or add NVME support in specific slots. Memory runs at speeds up to 2400MT/s depending on the installed processor capability.
Before ordering, confirm that your rack can accommodate a 2U unit with redundant power supplies and sufficient airflow clearance. The server has twenty-four DIMM slots, twelve per processor, supporting DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 64GB each; populate slots evenly across both CPUs for best performance. No operating system is included, so plan for a separate licence or installation media. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics provides basic console output only.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with 8 GB in a 24-slot DDR4 layout that supports up to 3 TB using 64 GB modules; start with 8 GB for light testing, then add matched ECC registered DIMMs in multiples of 12 per processor to reach the capacity your hypervisor needs.
Two E5-2670 v3 processors provide 24 physical cores and 48 threads at 2.3 GHz, giving ample parallel throughput for multiple VMs, container hosts, or database instances running simultaneously.
The B140i supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 on the two installed 500 GB 7.2K SATA drives and any additional SATA SSDs, but it cannot address SAS or NVME devices, so peak IOPS are capped by the SATA 6 Gbps interface.
