HP AP-615 tri-band access point

The HP R7J50A AP-615 is an indoor ceiling-mountable wireless access point that operates across 2.40 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. It delivers a wireless transmission speed of 3.60 Gbit/s and supports 802.11ax with MIMO and beamforming. Encryption standards include WPA, WPA2, WPA3, WPA2-MPSK and WPA3-ENT.

Suited for high-density indoor deployments

This unit fits environments that need tri-band coverage and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet backhaul with PoE powered-device support. Buyers who require outdoor-rated hardware or multiple RJ-45 ports should look at other models. The single Ethernet port and indoor-only rating limit its use in external or heavily wired installations.

2.5 Gigabit Ethernet with PoE PD

The access point includes one 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port that accepts PoE power, simplifying installation where mains sockets are unavailable. A USB port and a dedicated management port are also provided for local configuration or peripheral attachment.

Questions about this item

What ceiling opening does the 6.3-inch square AP-615 need?

The AP-615 measures 6.3 inches wide by 6.3 inches deep and 1.5 inches high, so a ceiling cut-out slightly larger than 6.3 inches square will accommodate the unit.

How is the AP-615 powered and mounted, and what step is often missed?

Connect the single 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port to a PoE+ switch or injector; the port supplies both data and power, then secure the ceiling-mount bracket before attaching the access point.

When should the internal antennas or radios be checked on the AP-615?

The AP-615 uses internal antennas with no user-serviceable parts; plan a firmware review and radio health check during scheduled network maintenance windows.
