HP S650 240GB SATA SSD

The HP S650 is a 2.5-inch internal solid-state drive with 240GB capacity and a SATA III interface. It uses 3D NAND flash and a high-performance controller to deliver faster system responsiveness than a mechanical hard drive. The drive suits everyday office work, media storage and general desktop or laptop upgrades.

Upgrade from a mechanical hard drive

Replacing a traditional 2.5-inch hard drive with this SSD removes the spinning-platter bottleneck and cuts boot and application load times. The jump is worth it when an older laptop or desktop feels sluggish during start-up, file opening or large document transfers. Sequential read reaches up to 560 MBps and write up to 500 MBps over the SATA 3.0 link.

240GB capacity for core files and OS

At 240GB the drive holds the operating system, essential applications and a working set of photos, documents and videos with room to spare. It runs out when large game libraries, raw video projects or full system images exceed the available space. The 1,000,000-hour MTBF and LDPC ECC error correction support long-term data integrity.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5 inch form factor fit my laptop drive bay?

The drive uses the standard 2.5 inch form factor and SATA III interface, matching most laptop and desktop drive bays that accept 2.5 inch SATA drives.

What is the correct way to connect the SATA III interface during installation?

Connect the drive to a SATA 3.0 port using both the data and power cables, then ensure the operating system recognises the 240GB capacity before cloning or installing the OS.

How long is the 3D NAND memory rated to last under typical use?

The drive carries a mean time between failures rating of 1000000 hours, indicating long-term reliability for the 240GB 3D NAND storage.
