Aruba Instant On AP22 Wireless Access Point

The HPE Aruba Instant On AP22 is a Wi-Fi 6 indoor access point designed for small businesses and SMB environments. It delivers dual-band connectivity on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies with a single Gigabit Ethernet uplink. Management is handled through the Aruba Instant On Cloud app for simplified deployment.

Suits growing SMBs needing Wi-Fi 6 capacity

This access point fits offices, schools, retail, and hospitality venues that require up to 75 active devices and Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6 performance. It is not intended for buyers who need multi-gigabit uplink speeds, external antenna options, or outdoor-rated hardware. Organizations requiring controller-based management should evaluate other solutions.

Single Gigabit Ethernet uplink limits wired backhaul

The AP22 provides one RJ-45 port operating at 100/1000 Mbps for network connection and PoE power. Wireless throughput reaches 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, but the single 1 Gbps wired link caps total aggregate traffic leaving the device.

Questions about this item

Do I need a PoE injector or a 12 V power adapter to run the AP22?

The AP22 accepts Power over Ethernet (802.1af Class 2) or a separate 12 V local power adapter; the R4W01A package includes only the access point itself.

Will the single Gigabit uplink on the AP22 limit throughput when I connect it to my existing 100 Mbps switch?

The uplink port negotiates 100/1000 Mbps, so a 100 Mbps switch will cap the link at 100 Mbps while the AP still delivers up to 1 774 Mbps aggregate wireless throughput.

How can I verify the AP22 is operating correctly after installation?

Open the Aruba Instant On cloud app or web-based management; it shows real-time client count (up to 75 active devices), signal health, and firmware status for the AP22.
